A driver’s vision

Breaking the race lap record at the Porsche Ring in Pärnu with an Estonian-built car was the ambition of driver and Oldbac founder Tõnis Vanaselja. His vision gave birth to Kalana, a purpose-built time attack machine designed for competitions such as the Baltic GT. When the project reached Manifattura Automobili Torino, it was a bold concept — not yet ready to face the track. Our mission: to transform this raw idea into a refined, record-breaking reality.

shaping the wind

To meet Oldbac’s ambitious goals, M.A.T. and Tõnis worked hand in hand, rethinking fundamental aspects of the car. The most transformative step was replacing the original tubular chassis with a carbon monocoque, drastically improving rigidity, safety, and weight distribution. This major change cascaded through the entire design, demanding re-engineering of key components. Through open collaboration and aerodynamic refinement, Kalana evolved into a machine that channels precision, power, and aerodynamic mastery.

Records on the Road 

By 2023, the first shakedown confirmed the success of the transformation. Thanks to meticulous engineering and manufacturing, Kalana performed flawlessly, requiring only fine adjustments before delivering remarkable results. Shortly after, Tõnis Vanaselja himself set a 1:09.111 lap record at the Porsche Ring, a defining achievement for Estonian motorsport. The project stands as a symbol of shared vision — where M.A.T.’s craftsmanship met a driver’s determination to create history.
